On Saturday November 10, I’ll be part of a symposium, “The Iraq War In Retrospect,” at the university of Wisconsin Oshkosh to “critically assess a war that impacted American (and Iraqi) society, politics and military families significantly over the past decade.” Dexter Filkins, who reported for The New York Times during the war, will be delivering the keynote. His book, The Forever War, is one of the best accounts of what it was like in Iraq and Afghanistan during the height of violence. Speakers for this event include journalists, veterans, scholars, experts on things and me. Opposition to the Iraq War is what got me started on political cartoons ten years ago. I’m looking forward to looking back (?) and to visiting Wisconsin for the first time.
