While Al Jazeera was busy reporting from the ground on the massive uprising in Egypt, American media outlets who have abandoned foreign coverage turned to their in-studio pundits for uninformed sound bytes.
When they weren’t obsessing over Twitter, commentators seemed cautious of the whole brown-people-governing-themselves thing. And Americans are now worried about a takeover by the Muslim Brotherhood–something they found out existed last week.
The normally insane Glenn Beck has come completely unspooled, casting the revolution as a Marxist/Islamist team-up to establish a Caliphate. (Marx wrote a lot on that.) For someone who fetishizes the American Revolution, you’d think he would be a little more supportive.
